Crime Branch to probe illegal structures raised in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Aug 7: Acting on complaints that a number of top Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) officials are involved in allowing the construction of illegal structures, Crime Branch (CB) Kashmir is conducting checks at a number of places in the city to ascertain the facts.
These structures include shopping malls and various other structures where it has been alleged that the officials of the SMC are involved.
It has been learned that the Crime Branch Kashmir started conducting checks across the city since early Friday morning.
The officials said that there have been allegations that SMC top brass has allowed illegal structures including shopping malls to come up without following the due procedures against illegal gratifications.
It was also said that there also are complaints that some shopping complex have been allowed without the provision of mandatory parking spaces.
Also, they said numerous complaints have been received where the officials of the SMC have been alleged to have allowed deviation in building permissions,
All the complaints, the officials said, are being looked into.
