Crime Branch produces challan in spurious cement sale case

JAMMU, Dec 30: Crime Branch Jammu today produced challan against proprietor of Lakshmi Traders who were allegedly involved in the sale of spurious cement in open market after refilling the same in Ambuja and ACC bags.
The challan in case FIR number 18/2012 was produced against the accused Saber Singh alias Samba Singh of Mahanpur Billawar, presently putting up at Adarsh Nagar Barnai Road Bantalab Jammu, Khem Raj of Kotli, Birpur, Bari Brahmana and Krishan Singh of Kothey Morh, Bari Brahmana under Section 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 482, 486, 487 and 120-B RPC in the court of Session Judge Samba.
The accused was held after two trucks loaded with spurious cement were intercepted by police. During interrogation of the truck drivers, they revealed that the cement was loaded from the Lakshmi Cement and Iron Store Purmandal Road, Birpur in Samba for its delivery at Surankote Sanai.
After arresting proprietors of the Lakshmi Cement and Iron Store Purmandal, Police also obtained filled bags of ACC and Ambuja Cement from the company headquarters for standard sampling and comparison of the same with seized cement.
The case was established after the FSL gave its opinion, which was positive. Following this, the Crime Branch produced challan against the accused, who are on bail. January 10, 2014 is the next date of hearing in the case.
