Crime against women on increase in J&K: NAUP

JAMMU, Oct 3: National Awami United Party (NAUP) has expressed concern over increase in crime against women in J&K.
In a press conference here today NAUP District Samba president, Sushma Kumari has urged upon the LG administration to take stern action against perpetrators of crime against women and make strict laws in this regard.
“Every day we come to know that some girl or woman has become victim of some crime,” she said adding that dowry system mostly leads to crime against women ranging from emotional abuse to injury and even to death.
“Though there are several laws against dowry yet we see spike in dowry cases in the modern society,” she maintained appealing Government to provide justice to women facing domestic violence and dowry curse.
The NAUP leader urged upon the agencies to check infiltration of beggars from outside who are easily seen at prominent places.
Shikha Bandral and Indu Chopra were also present in the press conference.
