JAMMU, Aug 12: Crest Hyundai, the dealership of Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today launched Hyundai’s new premium hatchback ‘Elite i20’ in its showroom here at Kunjwani Bye Pass Road.
Suresh Choudhary, Chief Manager, J&K Bank was the chief guest while Managing Director (MD) and General Manager (GM), Crest Hyundai, Anil Puri and Anuj Sharma respectively, were also present.
Speaking at the launch of Elite i20, Anil Puri, said since the launch of first generation i20 in December 2008, the company has so far sold 7.34 lakh units in the country.
“We remain committed to the Indian market. The all new Elite i20 would help further enhance the company’s market share in India,” he added.
The petrol versions of the car are priced between Rs 4.9 lakh and Rs 6.46 lakh while the diesel variants would retail between Rs 6.19 lakh and Rs 7.67 lakh. The company said the Elite i20, which is built on a completely new platform to replace the existing i20, would further add to the company’s strategy of enhancing volumes.
The new Elite i20 carries forward the engines from the outgoing car. The petrol is the 1.2-litre kappa mill that also powers the Grand i10 and Xcent. It develops 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque. The 90PS/220Nm 1.4-litre CRDi diesel is also the same. The petrol is mated to a 5-speed manual and the diesel to a six-speed box as before.
The new Hyundai Elite i20 has an ARAI certified mileage of 18.6 kmpl for the petrol and 22.54 kmpl for the diesel – both base variants. The top spec variants with the 16 inch alloy wheels have ARAI figures of 18.24 kmpl and 21.76 kmpl for the petrol and diesel respectively.
