Credit goes to people, forces: Azad

JAMMU, Mar 1: Taking a dig at Chief Minister, Mufti Sayeed for his comments crediting forces across the border for smooth conduct of 2014 Assembly polls, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the elections reflected the strength of democracy in the sensitive State.
“The credit for holding successful polls should go to the people of State, security forces and the Election Commission and not to forces across the border”, he told EXCELSIOR adding, “those forces were in fact hell bent to disrupt the elections”.
Expressing surprise over the statement of the Chief Minister, he said, “perhaps the new PDP-BJP Government isn’t aware that militants on directions from across the border made several attempts to disrupt the poll process and several political activists, sarpanches were killed in the process”.
“How can he forget the fidayeen attack on Army camp in Uri, where our soldiers were killed and I myself had to cancel my public meeting due to those attacks”, he said.
