JAMMU, Feb 9: Maintaining that the Government has insured that the pace of development of State is accelerated by announcing the setting up of new administrative units, the Minister for Rural Development & Panchayats Ali Mohd Sagar has termed the step as watershed in the history of the State and maintained that every nook & corner would witness phenomenal growth & development by this landmark decision.
The Minister addressed a series of public gathering at Dongi, Kalakot in Rajouri district after inaugurating a model village at Kallan, Dongi constructed by Rural Development Department with an estimated cost of Rs 1.12 crore. MLA Kalakot Choudhary Rashpal Singh, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Director Rural Development Jammu, Shafiq Ahmed Raina, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Salim Malik, Additional District Development Commissioner M.A Mirza and other senior officers of the district and department were present on the occasion.
The Minister said besides this landmark step the Government has also ensured the democratic decentralization of powers by putting in place a fully empowered and vibrant Panchayati Raj System, which would ensure that the people at gross root level are involved in day to day governance and also implementation of various welfare schemes. He said that the Government has undertaken a massive program of augmentation of the infrastructural capacities of the Panchayati Raj System by constructing Additional Panchayat Ghars in every constituency of the State by conversions of various schemes of the Rural Development Department.
Asking the people not to pay heed to the divisive and false propaganda of certain parties, the Minister said that they have always believed in misleading the masses for their ulterior political motives.
“The people are fully aware of the initiatives taken by the present Government for ensuring sustained development of the State besides elevating their socio economic profile and would give a befitting reply to these parties”, he added.
MLA Kalakot Rashpaul Singh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various initiatives taken by Government for ensuring overall development of the State and maintained that the new administrative units would speed up the development of all the three regions on an equitable basis.
