SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Massive cracks appeared today on a road along the Jhelum River in Hajin town of Bandipora district, triggering panic among locals.
Residents said the cracks had been developing over the past few days, but the damage worsened today with fresh fissures. They fear that if the cracks continue to expand, a major tragedy could occur, as the road runs alongside the river.

Locals have urged the administration to take immediate action to prevent further damage.
An official, however, said a team has been dispatched to assess the situation, and necessary measures will be taken accordingly. He added that public movement near the affected area will be restricted.
