JAMMU, May 1: In a crackdown over the people involved in smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Narwal police today arrested a bootlegger along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, a team from Narwal police post during patrolling intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered 115 pouches of illicit liquor and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Rocky Kumar, son of Pyara Lal of Rajeev Nagar, Jammu.
The accused carrying the illicit liquor on foot was about to deliver the consignment to consumers, but Narwal police foiled his attempt by arresting him and seizing the illicit liquor pouches.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 103/15 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Bahu Fort police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge police post Narwal PSI Vishal Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort police post Inspector Naveen Angral, SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
It is to mention that, on April 29, Narwal police also arrested a bootlegger along with 40 pouches of illicit liquor.
