JAMMU, Jan 8: The Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) and Mid Day Meals (MDM) workers of Education Department staged protests here appealing the Education Minister Altaf Bukhari to fulfill their demands including regularization.

Raising slogans the CPWs working as sweepers, watchmen and cooks in different Government schools assembled near Exhibition Ground here and held protests pressing for redressal of their grievances including minimum wages act, regularization and implementation of SRO-308.
The protesters said that they are getting meager salaries of Rs 25 to Rs 1000 per month, which is grave injustice with them.
State President Mohammad Yousuf and Vice President Manjit Singh urged the Government to come up with a job policy for them and give benefits of minimum wages act to them.
They urged the Education Minister, Secretary Education and Director Jammu and Kashmir divisions to stop playing with their future.
“If the Government failed to frame job policy and give benefits of minimum wages act before budget announcement, then we will lock down all educational institutions and will protest in aggressive manner”, they warned.
