Srinagar, Dec 19: All Jammu and Kashmir Contingent Paid and Cook Education Employees Association today protested against the authorities and demanded regularization of services and implementation of Minimum Wages Act
They said the CPWs and cooks working in Education Department have been victimized by indifferent political behavior. “We have been working on meager wages for years. We have knocked the door of every bureaucrat and politicians but to no avail. The Commissioner Secretary has even passed an order in our favor but it has not been implemented till date”, he said, adding that the court has directed the department to implement the Minimum Wages Employment Act but the department has not paid any heed.
The protesters further said that during the recent unrest it was they who were assigned the job to guarding the schools. “We were assigned the job to watch and ward the schools in volatile atmosphere which was totally denied by teachers despite receiving huge salaries in addition to having all provisions for their safe future”, they said.
The protesters demanded that services of all the qualified CPWs engaged up to 2011 should be regularized and the court orders regarding the implementation of Minimum Wages Act should be implemented. The cooks should also be regularized and till regularization, the wages should be paid in accordance to those working in KGBV schools.
