KISHTWAR, Feb 3: Chinab Power Projects Workers Union (CPPWU) has urged upon the Managing Director (MD), J&K Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) to impose penalty of Rs 200 crore on M/s GVK Power Development for unnecessary delay into the resumption of work upon the Rattle HE Project.
Addressing a gathering of unemployed youths here today, chairman, CPPWU, Joginder Bhandari, said that the GVK stopped its work over the project on July last year without showing any solid reason and consequently about 493 workers were retrenched by its sub-contractor M/s L&T as a result of which the youths became jobless.
Bhandari urged the State Government to black list the GVK for its failure to leave the work of Rattle HE Project half way when the State Government had entered into MoU with the management of GVK for a period of 35 years.
He demanded handing over of the execution of the project to any other agency in the larger interest of the people of the area.
