JAMMU, July 12: President, Consumer Protection Organization (CPO), J&K, Des Raj Danish has opposed the price rise of milk and milk products by CAPD Department.
Addressing a press conference here today, Des Raj Danish said the Director CAPD Jammu has increased the prices of milk/milk products by a notification dated 10-07-2019. “As per notification, price of cow milk has been raised by Rs 3 per litre while buffalo milk has been increased by Rs 4 a litre. It means cow milk will be available now at Rs 37 per litre and Buffalo milk at Rs 48 per litre,” he added.
Danish said that he walked out of the Price Fixation Committee meeting which held on July 9 as there was no discussion on quality of milk/milk products which is always compromised, putting the consumers to disadvantageous position. Opposing the hike in prices of milk/milk products, Danish demanded that quality of milk/milk products be ensured first and if needed, price can be hiked then.
Others present in the press conference were Subhash Khanna, Ranjod Sharma and Dr Santosh Sharma.
