Court stays elections to SDS Sopore

JAMMU, Mar 22: The Court of Civil Subordinate Judge (Excise Magistrate), Jammu has stayed the elections to Sanatan Dharam Sabha, (SDS) Sopore, Kashmir slated to be held tomorrow.
The Court has also issued directives that the elections should not be held as long as adequate and suitable arrangements for exercise of franchise for voters residing in NCR region Delhi are not put in place as a sine qua non prerequisite measure.
The Court in its directives observed that if 277 eligible voters of the Sabha who are stated to be residing in Delhi also want to exercise their franchise then the least which is required to be done, the Chairman Election Board of the Sabha, its Returning Officer and Secretary is to ensure that just and adequate arrangements ensuring exercise of franchise by a substantial chunk of voters in Delhi are also put in place.
The Court issued the order on a petition filed by Bansi Lal Pandita son of Late Gobind Ram Pandita of Colonel’s Colony Hazuri Bagh, Talab Tillo, Jammu against Sanatan Dharam Sabha Sopore, Kashmir Branch Jammu through Avtar Krishan Ganjoo, son of Late Sukhdev Ganjoo of Mohinderu Enclave, Gujranwala Town, Delhi and others.
