Court rejects SVO’s closure report, directs reinvestigation in trap case

JAMMU, Jan 21: In a rarest of the rare case, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Puneet Gupta today returned the closure report in a trap case filed by the State Vigilance Organization with the direction for further investigation in the case.
In the closure report, Vigilance Organization submitted that they have not found enough evidence to prosecute Mohd Rashid, the then Patwari Halqa Hakkal Satwari, who was caught red-handed on October 12, 2010 while accepting bribe of Rs 1500 from the complainant.
After going through the closure report, the Special Judge Anticorrpution Court observed, “the court is not satisfied with the closure report as the investigating agency has relied upon the statements of the children of the complainant”, adding “the plea of investigating agency is specious one and cannot be accepted”.
With these observations, Court rejected the closure report with the direction to further investigate the matter within a period of three months.
