Court rejects bail application of fraud conspirators

JAMMU, Mar 18: The Court of Addl Sessions Judge Jammu has rejected bail application of the accused son and his mother, who are alleged conspirators in a fraud involving Rs 6.5 crores.
Both the accused, namely Tousef Ahmed Bhat son of Bashir Ahmed Bhat and Shakeela Bashir wife of Bashir Ahmed Bhat, residents of Mughal Masjid Hawal Srinagar, A/P 503, Daffodil Ansals Grace Sainik Colony Jammu, are involved in case FIR number 21/2019, under section 420, 120-B RPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu.
Both the accused are conspirators in a fraud involving Rs.6.5 crores. Both of them have been taken in police remand for their investigation for recovery and finding whereabouts of main accused Riyaz Ahmed Mattoo son of Ghulam Nabi Mattoo of Khawaja Yarbal, Nizam Colony, Saida Kadal Srinagar and his wife Ruqaya. The involvement of other family members is also not ruled out.
Public prosecutor Suresh Kumar Sharma, assisted by IO of the case, presented the facts of the investigation well before the Court, which dismissed the bail application. Observing that “finally keeping in view the gravity of the offence based on deception which involves huge amount of more than Rs 6.00 crores, level of accusation against accused-applicants, stage of investigation, absconding status of main accused who are prima facie found to have committed the crime and were hand in glove with the accused in custody”, the court rejected grant of bail to the accused-applicants.
