JAMMU, Aug 5: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua MA Chowdhary today rejected five different bail applications in NDPSA case.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “narcotic/drug users being in the productive age, the loss in terms of human potential is incalculable, causing damage to physical, psychological, moral and intellectual growth”, adding “the prevalence of narcotic/drug abuse can be judged from the trends reflected by a survey report on the  ‘extent, pattern and trends’ of drug abuse in India jointly released by  the United Nations Office of Drug and Crime (UNODC) and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment”.
“India’s population had twice the global number of drug abusers. Narcotic/drug abuse has become a major problem of the society over the years. Cases against narcotic/drug peddlers indicate interstate narcotic/drug rackets targeting school kids as well. The illicit narcotics/drugs have a high addiction potential and there is gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on these narcotics/drugs both physically and psychologically”, the court further said.
With these observations, court rejected the bail applications.
