JAMMU, Sept 12: Principal District Judge Kathua with the power of MACT Court today directed Treasury Officer Darbar Move Civil Secretariat and District Treasury Officer Srinagar not to honour the salary bills of Commissioner Secretary Home and SSP PCR Srinagar.
“It is very strange that the widow and children of a policeman ASI Shuker Din, who got killed in a road accident while proceeding to Rajouri on election duty on February 1, 1998, have been waiting for compensation of Rs 5,75,072 along with interest at the rate of 7.5% per annum for the last more than seven years”, Principal District Judge M A Chowdhary observed.
“The respondents have not shown any plausible reason for non-payment of the amount and in my considered opinion coercive methods are required to be adopted for execution of the award”, Principal District Judge said, adding ” since both the respondents are senior functionaries of the State and it may be a matter that the payment would have been delayed due to officials wrangles, as such, this Tribunal restrains itself from passing orders for the civil imprisonment of both these officers”.
“It is, however, ordered that their salaries for the month of September 2017 onwards shall not be drawn and Treasury Officer Darbar Move Civil Secretariat is directed not to honour the salary bill of Commissioner Secretary to Government Home Department and District Treasury Officer Srinagar is directed not to honour the salary bill of Senior Superintendent of Police, Police Control Room Srinagar, till further orders”, the court said.
