JAMMU, July 11: In the mass copying case, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Kartar Singh has granted bail to Shamsher Singh, Superintendent in Examination Center at Kirpind for 10th Class Private Annual Exam, who was arrested by the Crime Branch.
After hearing both the sides, the Court observed, “the petitioner-accused is in custody for the last eight days and nothing is required to be recovered from him or at his instance and rather, the investigation appears to be almost complete”.
“The objections raised by the prosecution that statements of witnesses under Section 164-A CrPC have not yet been recorded and the investigation is at initial stage, is devoid of any legal or factual force”, the Court said, adding “the investigating agency had sufficient time to get the statements recorded and otherwise also the grant of bail to the accused does not come in the way of getting such statements recorded”.
With these observations, the Court granted bail to Shamsher Singh and directed him to furnish bail and personal bonds to the tune of Rs 50,000 each.
