JAMMU, Sept 8: In a unique case where a vehicle went missing from the police custody, the City Judge Abdul Nasir today directed SSP Jammu to investigate the matter personally or through some officer and submit report of investigation periodically for the information of the Court.
This order was passed in an application moved by one Ravinder Singh, son of Shanti Saroop seeking release of his vehicle.
According to the facts of the case, a vehicle bearing registration number JK02U-8040 was seized under Section 550 CrPC and it was kept at Bhagwati Nagar Jammu and subsequently the same was kept at Gulshan Ground. Later, the vehicle was found missing from the Gulshan Ground and no such entry was found with the MTO DPL Jammu.
Taking serious note of the lapse, the City Judge issued directions to SSP Jammu to investigate the whole matter. “The report submitted by Incharge Police Post Canal Road Jammu shows the non-compliance of the order passed by Court of CJM Jammu dated July 13, 2012 whereby the Court had directed the SHO Police Station Nowabad to release the vehicle”, the City Judge said.
Since the SHO has not complied the orders passed by the Court, a notice was issued to him to appear personally on next date to show cause as to why action under law should not be taken against him for non-compliance of the Court orders.
