JAMMU, Mar 30: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua, M K Hanjura today rejected pre-arrest bail application of Ved Parkash, an employee of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department and Bashimber Dass, Sarpanch, both sons of Thakur Dass of Bani, who were allegedly involved in misappropriation of rice.
According to the police case, the petitioners were involved in the commission of offences under Section 3/7 Essential Commodities Act and Section 409 RPC. Ved Parkash misappropriated the rice from the Government store in his capacity as an employee of the Food and Supplies Department with the aid and assistance of the Bashimber Dass, Sarpanch and shopkeeper.
After hearing Advocate B B Bhagotra appearing for the accused persons whereas Public Prosecutor Ravi Kumar Gupta for the State, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “custodial interrogation of the accused is warranted in the instant case. A fair deal has to be given to the investigating officer to conduct the investigation fearlessly and impartially”, adding “to release the accused on bail at this stage will be a serious act of impropriety that will have the effect of introducing a lot of obstacles in the fair investigation of the case”.
