JAMMU, Aug 17: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu MA Chowdhary today rejected the bail applications of two inter-state narco smugglers namely Jithin P C and Nizamudin, both residents of Kerala, who were arrested by the Special Operation Group (SOG) on June 7, 2016 along with heroin.
After hearing APP Ajay Singh Manhas, court observed, “drug abuse has became a major problem of the society over the years”, adding “the cases against drug peddlers indicate interstate international drug rackets targeting cross sections of the society including school kids as well”.
“The illicit drugs have a high addiction potential and there is gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on these drugs both physically and psychologically”, the court said, adding “the compulsive drug seeking and use, on addiction, causes chronic, brain disease changing the brain, its structure and how it works”.
With these observations, court dismissed the bail application.
