Court denies bail to Judicial Officer involved in rape case

JAMMU, Jan 30: Presiding Officer Fast Track Court Haq Nawaz Zargar today rejected the bail application of Rajesh Kumar Abrol, Sub-Judge (under suspension), who is allegedly involved in a rape case.
After hearing APP Vijay Sharma along with Advocate Deepika Singh Rajawat for the State/complainant, the court observed, “petitioner being a Judicial Officer, himself till his suspension, must be knowing the ethics and cautions that need to be taken while occupying the divine chair”.
“The Judicial Officers cannot have two standards, one in the court and other in the public life. The bench mark is the impeccable, integrity, honesty, both the inside and outside the court, without giving any chance to anyone to raise any kind of finger towards him”, the court said, adding “he cannot even remotely remain unworthy of the office he occupies”.
Court further observed, “it is true that offence of rape is more serious offences against the woman and the person who is prima facie found to have committed such offences is not entitled to the concession of bail. The offences more particularly against the women have been viewed to be offences against the society at large and letting the petitioner on bail in such heinous offences, if prima facie, committed, would definitely have deleterious effect on the mind of general public and would encourage re-occurrence of such crime”.
With these observations, court rejected the bail application.
