JAMMU, Oct 13: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal today awarded 7 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 40,000 to Krishan Singh, a resident of Dori Akhnoor in an attempt to rape with 11 years old girl.
According to the prosecution case, on October 29, 2001 daughter of the complainant aged about 11 years had gone to temple to attend a Bandara and when she was coming back in the evening she was forced to sit on cycle by the accused/convict. Thereafter, she was taken to a jungle where the accused tried to commit rape upon her. However, she managed to attract the attention of one Tara Chand, who rescued here from the clutches of accused/convict.
Principal Sessions Judge, in his judgement, touched all the aspects of child sexual abuse and said, “the prosecutrix being a minor has not only been put to physical and psychological harm but also emotional and social effects include depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, eating disorders, poor self-esteem, dissociative and anxiety disorders”.
Accordingly, the Court awarded rigorous imprisonment for five years and fine of Rs 20,000 to the convict Krishan Singh under Section 376/511 RPC. In default of payment of fine, he will further suffer an imprisonment for one year. He will further suffer rigorous imprisonment for two years and fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 354 RPC. In default of payment of fine, he will suffer an imprisonment for six months. However, all the sentences will run concurrently.
