Court awards 7 yrs imprisonment in culpable homicide case

JAMMU, July 26: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Deepak Sethi today awarded seven years and 11 months imprisonment to Vijay Singh alias Bittu facing trial in 304-II RPC (culpable homicide).
As per the prosecution case, on 24.10.2003 the complainant namely Aushutosh Singh had moved a written compliant before the SHO Police Station Jhajjar Kotli mentioning that Vijay Singh alias Bittu, son of Kesari Singh of Sahano along with one person namely Kala were ploughing the field in front of the gate of the Nanak Singh, son of Amar Singh. The dispute was already going on between the parties with respect to the land in which the accused were ploughing the land and in furtherance of common intention they killed Nanak Singh. On the basis of this information, FIR was registered.
After hearing both the sides, the court convicted Vijay Singh under Section 304 part II RPC and awarded him imprisonment for the period already undergone by him as under-trial prisoner which is more than 7 years.
