UDHAMPUR, Nov 20: A two day course on “Community Policing and Public Relations” concluded at Sher- e- Kashmir Police Academy here. The main objective of the course was to make the officers aware of shift in design of policing, involvement of community members in police work and change in the methods of police working.
About 17 officers have been nominated by the PHQ for the course which included three Deputy SPs and 14 inspectors. The contents of the course were chalked out under the supervision of Director SKPAU Farooq Khan, Joint Director, Parminder Singh by involving Management experts, Sociologist, Psychologist, police officers and faculty members.
Rajesh Bakshi, Senior Prosecuting Officer and SI Sanjay Raina remained as course co-ordinator and course secretary.
Eminent speakers Dr. Vikram Gulati, Principal Shivalik College Udhampur, Dr. Savita Nayyar Associate Professor Law Jammu University, Sheefali Bahadur, faculty management, Udhampur College delivered their lectures on the subjects, Concept of community policing and public relation, Police public relations for better policing and Importance of community policing and development of police personality. Dr. Arti Bakshi H.o.D Psychology Deptt. Jammu University and Sawtanter Arora DySP (retired) also shared their views on the topic.
The valedictory function was graced by Ravinder Rao, (ADI) SKPAU and Dr. Arti HoD Psychology Deptt. Jammu University.
