Country under heavy debt of Rs 205 lakh crore during Modi regime: JD(U)

PATNA, Jan 4 : JD(U), on Thursday took potshot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his claim on the sound economic condition of India, saying the country is under heavy debt of Rs 205 lakh crores during the regime of his government.

The General Secretary of JD (U), Rajeev Ranjan, posted on his Twitter handle account X that Prime Minister Modi had taken more loans than all his predecessors since independence. Altogether, 14 Prime Ministers during their regimes since independence had taken loans of Rs 55 lakh crores, while Prime Minister Modi had alone taken a whopping amount of Rs 205 lakh crores during the last ten years, he pointed out.

“Even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has cautioned the government against taking huge loans from various sources,” the JD (U) leader said, adding that such flawed policies of the Narendra Modi government would push the country into a vicious cycle of debt. As per an estimate, every child born in the country would be in debt of Rs one crore since birth, he pointed out.

“The dream of making the national economy worth 5 trillion dollars is farce and misleading,” Ranjan said, adding that despite such a grim scenario, the Narendra Modi government was not prepared to learn the lesson. The common man of the country would have to face the serious consequences of the flawed policies of the government, he cautioned. (UNI)
