Core Group reviews security

JAMMU, Aug 6: In the wake of the ongoing unrest in the Kashmir valley, officials from various security forces and Intelligence agencies today reviewed the security in Jammu, to ensure peace and stability in the region.
“The Core Group security meeting was held at Nagrota to take stock of the prevailing security situation South of Pir Panjal in the Jammu region,” official sources said.
He said that the meeting was chaired by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of White Knight Corps Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar.
The meeting was attended by Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP Danesh Rana, DK Upadhayaya, IG BSF, CRPF DIG Rakesh Sethi among other top officials of Army, police, security and Intelligence agencies.
Sources said a joint strategy was chalked out in great detail by all agencies to ensure peace and stability in the region and maintain an incident-free environment.
“The GOC stated that the Army and its various formations deployed in South of Pir Panjal have been proactively involved in synergy with civil administration to maintain peace and social harmony in the region,” they said.
Lt Gen Nimbhorkar also emphasized that the Army is always ready to face all challenges whether on the Line of Control or in hinterland and were prepared in all respects to assist the civil administration.
