Policeman’s body found hanging in room

POONCH, Apr 11: A family today held protest demonstration in Mendhar area against Rajouri Police today as the body of their family member- a police personnel in J&K Police was found hanging in the room of his colleague and police was trying to give twist to the case.

Reports said that the body of policeman (SGCT) Iftahar Ahmed (36), son Manzoor Ahmed, a resident of Ari village was found hanging from the fan hook, under mysterious circumstances, from the rented room of his colleague. During that time the police registered a case at Rajouri Police Station when the family members alleged that Iftahar was murdered.
Today, at Shahidi Yadghar Chowk, near the main bus stand of Mendhar, the family and relatives of the policeman Iftahar blocked the road and started protest against the Rajouri police. The demonstration was started at 7 am and continued till 10 am when SDPO Mendhar Sheezan Bhatt along with SHO Manzoor Kohli arrived with his team and asked the protesters to clear the road and assured that whatever demands, we will take up with the higher authorities.
The family vacated the road, but protest continued at the venue till this evening. They disrupted movement of traffic on Mendhar-Jammu road for several hours.
Nazia Khatoon, the wife of the deceased Iftahar Ahmed, alleged that a month had passed since the accused of her husband have not been arrested. She demanded that action should be taken against those who have conspired against her husband.
Talking to reporters SDPO Mendhar, Sheezan Bhatt said, ” I have spoken to Rajouri police regarding the demand of the family of the deceased, they assured that appropriate action will be taken on receipt of FSL report.”
