Copper, nickel soften on weak global cues

NEW DELHI, July 2:  Copper and nickel prices fell by Rs 2 per kg each at the local non-ferrous metals market today amid a weakening trend in global markets.
Besides, subdued demand from consuming industries at domestic spot markets also put pressure on prices.
Traders said sentiment weakened after copper retreated from a 16-week high in global markets as some investors judged the recent rally was excessive.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months declined 0.4 per cent to USD 6,995 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4×4) declined by Rs 2 each to Rs 444 and Rs 1,092-1,098 per kg, respectively.
