NEW DELHI, Dec 26: Buoyed by a firm Asian trend and increased domestic demand, copper prices rose 0.30 per cent to Rs 467.20 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 1.40, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 467.20 per kg in business turnover of 882 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month April edged up by Rs 1.30, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 472 per kg in 62 lots.
Market analysts said besides increased demand from consuming industries, a firming trend in the Asian trade influenced copper prices at futures trade here.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in March climbed 1.8 per cent to 52,360 yuan (USD 8,624) a tonne, the highest close for a most-active contract since October 8 at Shanghai Futures Exchange, while the London Metal Exchange closed for Christmas holiday. (AGENCIES)
