Copper futures up on overseas trend, spot demand

NEW DELHI, Aug 9:  Amid a firming global trend and pick up in spot demand, copper prices moved up by 0.15 per cent to Rs 420.80 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month November was up by 65 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 420.80 per kg, in a business volume of 29 lots.
Metal for delivery in August gained 40 paise, or 0.10 per cent, to Rs 414.45 per kg, in a business turnover of 890 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in copper futures to a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) where it hovered nearly 2-1/2 year highs at USD 6,466.50 per tonne yesterday.
Further, rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot markets supported the upside, they said. (PTI)
