NEW DELHI, Mar 31: Tracking a weak global trend, copper prices fell by 0.24 per cent to Rs 407.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June fell by Re one, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 407.20 per kg in a business turnover of 2 lots.
The metal for delivery in April traded lower by 90 paise, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 403.65 per kg in 136 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global cues on concern that an economic slowdown in China, the biggest metals consumer, will lower demand.
The metal for delivery in three months on the London Metal Exchange fell 0.5 per cent to USD 6,640 per tonne.
Meanwhile, copper fell 0.5 per cent to USD 6,640 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. (AGENCIES)
