SRINAGAR, Jan 1: Militants this evening shot dead a police man after they barged into his house in Pulwama district and sprayed bullets at him.
The policeman has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Mir son of Wali Mohammad resident of Hanjan-Payeen, Pulwama.
Sources said that two militants barged into the house of Sameer at Hanjan-Payeen in Pulwama this evening. They took him along and sprayed bullets at him outside his house.
Sameer was critically injured in the attack and militants fled from the spot leaving him in pool of blood. He was evacuated to nearby hospital for medical treatment but was declared as brought dead.
Police has registered a case and initiated investigations in the matter. Security forces immediately reached the spot and massive operation was launched in the area.
It is the same village where three Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed by security forces in a gun battle.
