Cop injured in attack, 3 rifles snatched

Srinagar, June 6: A policeman was critically injured this evening when unknown gunmen attacked a police barrack at Pakherpora who were guarding the shrine in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Sources said that two unknown gunmen barged inside a police barrack who were guarding the shrine at Pakherpora in district Budgam. The gunmen attacked a policeman on his head with an iron rod and then fired upon him before fleeing from the spot.
The injured cop has been identified as Constable Shabir Ahmad Mir (belt no. 1120/BD) of Chotipora Shopian. He was immediately shifted to the nearby hospital where from he was removed to SKIMS Soura where his condition is stated to be critical.
They said that the gunmen also managed to decamp with three SLR rifles from the police post.
Soon after the incident, Army’s 35 RR and SOG cordoned off the whole area and launched massive searches to nab the assailants.
