Srinagar, Sept 4: Police arrested a cop on charges of forgery and fraud in North Kashmir’s Handwara town today for duping his fellow villager.
The cop has been arrested after one Mudasir Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Shanoo Langate area of Handwara filed a complaint at police Station Handwara.
Sheikh stated in his complaint that a cop working in the office of DySP Handwara duped him. He complained that after taking Rs 2 lakh from him, he was provided with a fake appointment order in the Police Department.
It is to be mentioned here that both the accused cop and the complainant hailed from the Shanoo Langate area of Kupwara district.
The accused cop has been identified as Shabir Ahmed Dar (390/H). He has been arrested and suspended.
It has been learnt that the accused Shabir Ahmed Dar in the year 2017 handed over a fake appointment order to the complainant for SPO and for some time the accused asked him to accompany him and they both used to visit District Police Lines Handwara.
After this, the complainant was sure that he has got the job of SPO. The accused even provided the complainant with a fake belt number.
Police have taken cognizance of the complaint and have registered an FIR vide number 300/2020 under Section 420, 468 at Police Station Handwara.
