JAMMU, July 21: An Armed Police personnel here died of gunshot injuries after his service rifle went off, police said.
They said Selection grade Constable Jai Raj (43), a resident of Nagrota, was on duty at JKAP 7th Security Battalion, Channi area, when his service rifle went off around 4:15 pm, leaving him in a pool of blood.
He was immediately taken to Government Medical College Jammu by his colleagues where he was declared as dead on arrival.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain whether the police personnel died of accidental firing or he deliberately ended his life.
