Cop booked for corruption

JAMMU, Nov 29: On corruption charges, Anti-Corruption Bureau has booked a Police official Abdul Gaffar of Naka Manjhari, Mendhar, district Poonch, posted in 4th Security.
A case FIR No. 38/2018 u/s 5(1) (d) read with section 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt 2006, has been registered against Abdul Gaffar (No.f-22/AP 4th Security PID No.ARP-055730) at Police Station Vigilance.
The instant case was registered on the basis of enquiry conducted by the Security Headquarter against accused Abdul Gaffar on the written complaint lodged by one Abdul Majid of Dharana, Tehsil Mendhar, regarding allegation of demand and acceptance of bribe money of Rs 1.5 lakh by accused from the complainant.
Enquiry conducted revealed that the accused, while his posting in J&K Armed Police, had demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh from the complainant with the assurance to get his close relatives adjusted in Police Department. However, despite paying the bribe amount, neither his close relatives were adjusted nor the amount paid to accused was returned to complainant. After registration of the case, investigations have been taken up.
