JAMMU, Nov 14: Three persons including a policeman were killed while two others were injured in separate road accidents occurred today in city and its outskirts.
According to a police official, a man identified as Shambhu Nath (58) son of Anant Ram, resident of Prem Nagar (Jammu) received serious injuries when he was hit by a 407 load carrier at Fish Market, Gumat. The mishap occurred when the driver of the load carrier was reversing his vehicle, the official added.
“The injured man who worked in the Fish Market was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors,” he further said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at concerned police station and investigation started.
A road accident also happened on Jammu-Akhnoor Road near Toph Puli at about 7 PM, where a bike was hit by a speeding bus. In the mishap, a Senior Grade Constable of IRP 7 Battalion namely Kewal Kumar 940) son of Krishan Lal, resident of Marh, who was riding the bike, and his pillion rider, namely Rocky (Constable in IRP 7 Battalion) son of Chaman Lal, resident of Mishriwala, were seriously injured.
Both the injured police personnel were shifted to GMCH Jammu but doctors there declared Kewal as brought dead while Rocky was responding to the treatment. Talab Tillo police had taken cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK02AC-2365 hit a scooty (registration number JK02BK-0818) near Hyundai showroom at Channi and grievously injured rider and pillion of the scooty. The accident occurred at about 12:30 PM. Both the injured were rushed to GMCH Jammu, where one of them namely Sonu Kumar (32) son of Ram Lal, resident of Lower Chowadi, was declared as brought dead by the doctors. However, condition of other injured person namely Nazir Ahmed son of Gulam Hassan, resident of Ramban, was stable .
