Contractual Lecturers’ chain hunger strike enters 85th day

JAMMU, May 9: The ongoing hunger strike by the Contractual Lecturers (10+2), entered into 85th consecutive day today.
They are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
The Contractual Lecturers began their chain hunger strike this morning amidst raising  slogans, the agitators held a protest demonstration in support of their demand and criticizing the State Government.
While addressing the gathering, Arun Bakshi, president of the Contractual Lecturers (10+ 2) Association, lamented that the State Government was adopting an insensitive attitude towards the genuine demand of highly educated Contractual Lecturers. “We will not lift this dharna and hunger strike till our cases for regularization as per Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010 are finally settled,” he said and added that the Government should avoid its indifferent attitude towards the highly educated youth and adopt sympathetic way to settle the problem of the Contractual Lecturers who are on hunger strike since February 15, 2017.
Jeevan Kumar, State press secretary also addressed the gathering and announced  that the Association has decided to continue the ongoing chain hunger strike till their demand is conceded.
