Contractors want Governor’s intervention to get dues cleared

JAMMU, May 20: Contractors from Udhampur, Doda, Kathua, Ramban and Kishtwar have appealed to the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to direct the concerned department to clear the liabilities for the work done by them.
In a press conference here today these Contractors said, if their liabilities are not cleared within 10 days then they will start an agitation.
They informed that they executed various developmental works in different urban local bodies of Jammu province from January to March this year by working day and night.
“Surprisingly the Finance Department ordered that only 15 per cent payments of the executed works can be withdrawn,” the Contractors said adding that due to this Rs. 744.153 lakh got lapsed in the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Jammu.
They also said that they have no fault in this as their works were properly allotted to them and they accomplished it perfectly.
“Now we demand that the Governor should intervene to get our dues cleared,” they told reporters.
