SRINAGAR, Feb 5: The Contingent Paid Workers of Education Department from Budgam district today held a protest in front of the office of Director School Education here demanding immediate implementation of the Minimum Wages Act.
The workers working under different Government schemes raised slogans against the Government for turning blind eye towards their demands.
“Both High Court and Divisional Commissioner have ordered for immediate implementation of our demands. Still nothing practical has happened on ground. Even a parliamentary committee in 2012 said that the minimum wages will be rupees 15000 but the State Government is unwilling to take any decision in this regard,” Bilal Ahmad, a protester said.
“We have been delivering 24/7 service for a meager amount of rupees 25 to 1000 that too from the last 20 years,” they said
They demand Government to come up with a clear regularization policy and give benefit of Minimum Wages Act.
