JAMMU, Feb 12: Continuing with the efforts to augment Health Infrastructure, the construction work of Bone and Joint Hospital was started today within the premises of CD & TB Hospital, GMC Jammu.
The construction work was started by Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal and Dean, Government Medical College, Jammu in presence of all heads of the departments, Medical Superintendents, XEn R&B, faculty members and paramedical staff.
The Hospital will be a 300 bedded hospital sanctioned under PMDP and work has been allotted to R&B Department for Rs 38 crore. It will be a G+3 storey hospital to be completed in two phases within a period of 24 months. The Hospital will be state of the art hospital equipped with the latest machines and modular OT’s.
Bone and Joint Hospital was a long pending demand of Jammu province and after its completion the patients of whole Jammu province as well as the neighbouring States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh shall be benefited and patients of Jammu province will no longer have to go to outside the State for specialized orthopaedic treatment.
The proposal for creation of posts of all cadres for the Bone & Joint Hospital has already been submitted to the Administrative Department. The construction of additional 100 bedded emergency block at a cost of Rs 11.5 crore to improve emergency services in GMC Jammu is already in full swing.
