JAMMU, Apr 7: Bahu Fort Development Committee (BFDC) has appealed the Government to constitute Shrine Board for Mata Maha Kali Temple at Bahu Fort as soon as possible to overcome all the deficiencies there and to make suitable arrangements for the pilgrims visiting the shrine.
In a meeting of BFDC held here today under the chairmanship of its chairman, Baldev Raj Nargotra, the speakers including BFDC president, Rajeev Charak expressed grave concern over the problems facing the pilgrims and visitors of Mata Maha Kali in the absence of sarai (shelter).
Charak said that they have repeatedly demanded and requested the Government and district administration for construction of a sarai or shelter at Bahu Fort but no heed was paid to their demand by the authorities, who always ignored their demand.
He regretted that there is not any suitable arrangement for pilgrims to take shelter from rain and expressed his grief over evil deed of the priests of the Mata Maha Kali Shrine, who he said bribed the Government authorities for non construction of sarai there.
About eighty thousand people visit there and pay obeisance to Mata Maha Kali on Bahu Fort Mela and Ram Navmi, but due to mismanagement they have to suffer.
He warned that if their demand for shrine board of Shri Mata Maha Kali Temple is not considered, then the Government will be responsible for unavoidable circumstances.
BFDC vice-presidents, Hardesh Kumar Khokher and Vicky Sharma, general secretary, Raghav Gupta, spokesperson, Ishant Gupta and secretary, Rahul Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
