Srinagar, Apr 21: The president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), GA Mir, today said that Congress will bring peace and normalcy in Kashmir if voted to power.
Speaking to reporters during a press conference in Anantnag , Mir said that Congress has not left Kashmir cause whether in power or out of power. “We have not left the Kashmir cause even when we were out of power at the Centre as well as in the State. The high level group headed by Dr Manmohan Singh has been continuously meeting individuals and groups. We are ready and if we are voted to power, this time over, the Congress party will bring the atmosphere in Kashmir to normalcy and will sort out all the issues faced by the commoners”, he said.
The JKPCC president said that if voted to power, Government will start dialogue with all stakeholders in Kashmir. “Congress party has clearly stated in its manifesto that it will start a dialogue process with all the stake holders in Kashmir if voted to power. We have done that in Punjab, Assam and Mizoram. We will do that to resolve the Kashmir issue. It is a political issue and should be dealt politically and to do that there is a need to strengthen the ways of dialogue”, he said.
Mir said that as long as Congress is there no body can touch Article 370. “We have strongly put it forth that as long as Congress party exists in India nobody can even dare to touch Article 370 or the Article 35A. Congress says it because India says it. By putting such a thing in the manifesto, a signal has been sent to the people and they have understood that the Congress has come out to their rescue”, he said.
The JKPCC chief accused Mehbooba for being responsible for coercive polices in the State. “Mehbooba Mufti is directly responsible for inducting coercive policies in the State. It is her encouragement to the BJP and Modi”, he said.
Mir said that Congress won’t let BJP to succeed in devisive politics. “BJP is dividing people on communal, cultural lines. The more there is division in the State, more it is going to benefit the BJP, but the people of J&K are politically mature enough and they won’t let the BJP succeed in what it is designs”, he said.
