UDHAMPUR, Mar 1: Working President of District Congress Committee Udhampur Sumeet Magotra organized a two- wheeler protest rally against alleged dictatorial policies of Government & Municipal Council Udhampur.
The rally began from Dhar Road Udhampur and reached at Indira Chowk Gole Market Dabbar Udhampur by passing through Salathia Chowk, Court Road and Mukerji Bazar. Demonstrators were raising slogans against JKUT administration and the Municipality.
While addressing the rally, Sumeet Magotra lamented that Municipal Council has increased the parking rates more than double of previous rates. He alleged that door to door solid waste collection sanitation contract was a big scam of Municipal Council Udhampur. This contract has been given to a Haryana based firm by imposing controversial condition to stop the small local contractors, he said added that the contractor was not disposing off collected solid waste at Solid waste unit Sambal.
On the other hand, he said that MCU was asking the shopkeepers to pay heavy amount for sanitation services by threatening to impose FIR against defaulters.
Sumeet Magotra announced that dictatorial attitude of Municipal Council Udhampur will not be tolerated and a big agitation will be launched. He also said that the PDD was installing Smart Meters in Udhampur but on the other hand heavy curtailment of six hours has been imposed.
