VIJAYPUR, Dec 10: Agitated over unprecedented hike in prices of food grains, being provide by the Government under Public Distribution System, Congress activists held a strong protest demonstration here today, under the leadership of PCC members and senior Congress leader Arun Sharma.
The protesting Congress activists raised slogans against the price hike and also torched an effigy of the Government. They took out a rally from Gurha Morh Vijaypur and then marched towards the Main Market where the Government effigy was torched amidst slogans.
While addressing the gathering,  Arun Sharma drew attention towards hike in  price of sugar from Rs 13.50 to Rs  25  per kg  and   that of  Atta from Rs  8:00 /kg to  Rs  15 per kg. “Modi Government has demonetized the old currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 besides introducing new Rs 2000 denomination note, which is the main cause of this price hike and common masses  are ultimate suffering,” he explained.
Arun Sharma claimed that around 70 percent people in rural India had no bank accounts and demonetization has rendered their hard earned little money to useless pieces of printed papers.
“The coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir has also failed to deals with problems of common mass and to divert attention of people from real issues, un-necessary controversies are being created by the alliance partner PDP and BJP, which was evident in yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, he said and appealed people to teach the saffron party a lesson in the next elections in J&K.
Arun Sharma also highlighted some local problems and alleged corruption in Government Departments, particularly in Revenue.
The protest demonstration was joined by various Congress delegates, including Dr Chhajju Ram, Ghambir Singh,  Sandeep Sharma, Capt  Baldev Raj, Dev Raj, Bishember Singh, Ram Murti,  Gulshan Lal, Rajesh Kumar, Rehmat Ali, Onkar, Singh, Shamsher Singh, Jagtar Singh, Satain Singh etc and others.
