JAMMU, Nov 10: The District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) in a meeting at Congress office here today discussed preparations for the upcoming Jan Jagran Programme to be launched by the Congress party on November 14.
Senior leaders, incharges of Jammu East and Jammu West constituencies along with office bearers were present at the meeting, which was chaired by former minister Yogesh Sawhney-general secretary PCC in-charge District president Jammu (Urban). He said that the program will aim at spreading awareness among the public on the issues of inflation, price rise, growing unemployment and other failures of the BJP-led Central Government. The Jan Jagran Programme will be held under the leadership of AICC In-charge J&K and MP, Rajani Patil and PCC president Ghulam Ahmad Mir.
The program which will be kick-started on November 14, may be taken to various wards and blocks of Jammu by DCC Jammu (Urban).
Along with Yogesh Sawhney, senior Congress leaders including Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Ritu Choudhary, Uttam Singh, Pawan Dev Singh, Rickey Dalotra, Rajesh Sharma, Atul Sharma, Chander Shekhar Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Ram Magotra, Nishant and others were present at the preparatory meeting.
Speaking on the program, Sawhney said that under the BJP Government, the country has seen a very bad case of price rise which in turn has badly affected the people. There is no option for people except paying these heavy prices. In the last five years the retail price of petrol rose from Rs 69.14 to Rs 109.69. The exorbitant prices of essential commodities and fuel have crippled the Indian households whose shrinking budgets could not afford basic necessities for their families.
He stated that the program will shed light on these issues that haunt the daily lives of the general public each day. Low and middle income households are grappling with a myriad of difficulties. Apart from nationwide problems that have the entire country enraged, J&K has its own set of issues that remain unaddressed, unresolved and ignored, Sawhney added.
