JAMMU, Oct 26: Ex-Minister and MLA Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Khan today kicked off his campaign from Karayian and sought votes for himself.
Mr Khan inaugurated a High School building at Pallulian constructed against the funds of Rs 40 lacs and handed over the same to Education Department for imparting better education to the students of the area.
He said that Education is an important Pillar for the development of the society, adding that the same School was upgraded on his recommendations 2-3 years back for the benefit of public at large.
Mr Khan while conducting public meetings at Kariyan Dassal, Tunditrar on first day of his campaign when Model Code of Conduct has come into force said that the time has come to judge the contesting candidates on merit.
Khan said an era of development for the Rajouri constituency has been witnessed during the last six years, adding the development which this constituency was lacking remained immeasurable before 2008.
Khan said that Rajouri constituency remained among top seven constituencies as per the survey conducted in respect of development in the State.
While addressing at Kariyan, he affirmed that he always had impartial approach for all sections of the society, adding that he always remained connected with local populace of his constituency and visited every nook and corner of the area represented by him.
Citing example of Ghulam Nabi Azad as a leader with broad vision and impartial approach, Khan said such leaders are born once in a century and have dynamism to help their parties win, adding that is as to why Congress is all set to form the new Government.
He said, under the umbrella of Congress, schemes like IAY, MGNREGA, NRHM, PMGSY, Right to Food Bill, RTI Act and many more came into existence and “Right to Health bill” must have been passed if UPA-III could come in power.
Mr Khan further said that Congress is always committed for providing better education, better health facilities and better avenues in all the sectors.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion were Shakeel Mir, general secretary PCC, Sain Abdul Rashid, District president, Rajesh Bali, Kamal Bakshi, Sushil Sharma and Pushpinder Gupta.
