Cong seeks upgradation of health facilities, help for stranded people

JAMMU, Mar 29: Congress has urged the Government to take urgent steps to streamline the arrangements for the stranded students, labourers and others belonging to different districts, who are struck up in Jammu, due to the sudden announcement of lockdown ad also upgrade health facilities in Rajouri-Poonch and other affected areas.
In a joint statement JKPCC president GA Mir and several other senior leaders have urged the UT administration to take further steps to streamline the process of food and shelter and medicare to those stranded in Jammu, belonging to different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, who are struck up.
They should be shifted to their respective areas and till then proper arrangements for their food and shelter be made. The assistance of NGOs and social , religious organizations be also sought but to be managed by the government in order to maintain the standard health advisories.
Meanwhile, several senior Congress leaders from Rajouri- Poonch have urged the Central Govt and UT Administration to immediately upgrade and strengthen the health and medicare facilities in the twin border districts especially in the GMC Rajouri in view of corona virus threat.
In a joint statement these leaders have expressed concern over the detection of some corona virus cases in Manjakote area of the district Rajouri and possibilities of some more suspected cases there. The health and medicare facilities in the twin border districts are quite inadequate especially to deal with the corona crisis.
They said that the lack of adequate ventilators besides the PPEs for the medical fraternity and health workers and Safaiwalas is a matter of concern and there is urgent need to upgrade the facilities on war footing to meet the growing challenge of the area. The GMC Rajouri needs to be further equipped to meet the local requirements of the situation. They also demanded more vigorous screening and testing facilities to identify the suspects.
They also impressed upon the Govt to avail the services of large number of young qualified medicos and paramedics and engage them immediately without reference to the recruiting agencies as the UK and USA has even dispensed with the final year exams of the medical courses and employed them to deal with the situation there. They also demanded immediate restoration of 4G net services in view of the current crisis facing the people.
