JAMMU, May 27: Rich tributes were paid to first Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 53rd death anniversary by the Congress party throughout the State.
The main function in Jammu was held at PCC headquarter here today, which was presided over by PCC vice president and former minister, Raman Bhalla and attended by senior functionaries of PCC, DCC and leaders of frontal organizations of the party.
While paying tributes PCC members described Pt Nehru as a great visionary leader who laid sound policies for the future of this great nation. The policies which were framed under Pt Nehru’s stewardship are the guiding principles for this country. They said Nahru laid the sound foundation of independent India as a first Prime Minister. He was one of the tallest leaders of the world under whose stewardship India progressed on all fronts and played a very important role in the affairs of the world.
Raman Bhalla described Nehru as a great visionary leader who guided india to the success in various fields. He was one of the tallest leaders of the world under whose stewardship India progressed on all fronts.
Bhalla said Pt Nehru was an ardent freedom fighter, a competent administrator, a successful planner, a visionary thinker, an author and world statesman, who provided political stability to the establishment of Indian democracy. He was deeply committed to the development of science and was architect of modern India.
Prominent among those who attended the programme included former Dy Chairman Legislative Council, S Gurmukh Singh, PCC vice president Kanta Bhan, general secretaries Vikram Malhotra and Manmohan Singh; president DCC Jammu (U) Anil Chopra; president Pradesh Mahila Congress Indu pawar, Pranav Shagotra-PYC chief, Neeraj Kundan- State NSUI chief, Ex-MLAs Girdhari Lal Chalotra, Krishan Chander Bhagat, Kuldeep Raj Verma, secretaries PCC Neeraj Gupta, Pawan Raina, Manjeet Singh Jatt, S. Gurdarshan Singh, S Gajan Singh (Minority Cell), functionaries of DCC Sukhdev Choudhary, Madan Lal Malagar, Dr RK Khajuria, Ram Parkash Magotra, Sunil Kumar, Jai Dev Sharma, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Chanchal Dogra, Parvinder Kour, Prabha Slathia, and others.
A similar function was organized by District Congress Committee Rajouri. Besides AICC AROs Deepak Rathore and Masood Mirza, the function was attended by JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, general secretary Shabir Ahmed Khan, Iqbal Malik, DCC president Sain Abdul Rashid, Som Nath, Lovely Gupta, Masood Choudhary, Shafi Dar, Sushil Sharma, Lalit Mahajan, Sajat Tariq, Bitu Sharma, Dwarka Nath Sharma, Jaswant Singh, Manju Sharma, MY Mugal, Molvi Gulzar, Vijay Guru, Somo Jasyal and others.
While paying tributes Senior Congress leaders said that the devotion to democracy was one of Nehru’s political principal and the building of a democratic, social and political system was one of his principal objectives. For him political democracy was a means of solving social problems. He was architect of Non Aligned Movement (NAM), a third force in the World organization to finish the domination of big powers. They said that Pt Nehru provided political stability to the establishment of Indian democracy.
Meanwhile, in order to commemorate the 53rd death anniversary of Pt Nehru, Congress activists organized function at Hiranagar today.
District Congress Committee Kathua president, Ex-MLC Subash Gupta presided over the function whereas, dozens of party activists paid floral tributes to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.
Throwing light on the philosophy and life of Pt Nehru, Subash Gupta said that his life was full of devotion, dedication and truthfulness for the nation. It was Nehru, who designed the modern India and laid the strong foundation stone for its future.
Senior Congress members Ram Krishan, Yugal Kishore Bali, Anant Ram Dogra, K C Bhagat, Yashpal, Ruldoo Ram, Raj Kumar, Parveen Kumar, Banarsi Dass and Yog Raj also attended the function.
